The national carrier Kenya Airways is on the edge of full recovery after the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) finally calls on the views of interested parties about the joint venture of KQ, Air France, and KLM.

Air France and KLM merged in 2004 and the national carrier is seeking to expand the alliance as the French airliner plans to launch direct flights to Kenya by April.

The CAK has published a gazette notice asking on all interested parties to submit their views to the regulator on or before February 13th.

“The proposed amendment joint venture provides for commercial activities between Kenya Airways, KLM and Air France as follows; reciprocal codesharing on the joint venture routes,” CAK’s Director General Wang’ombe Kariuki says in the notice as quoted by The Business daily.

Other commercial activities that the three firms will jointly venture in include;

“Alignment and coordination of network management activities with respect to the joint venture including terms of routes, schedules, and capacity; alignment and coordination of management of all revenues attributable to the joint venture,” the notice read further.

The joint venturing of the three firms will also see staff exchange in different areas, concerted marketing and sales activities, alignment and coordination of ticketing.
