The National team Harambee Stars will be awarded Sh50 million if they qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.

The promise came from Deputy William Ruto when he hosted the team in his Karen home for breakfast on Tuesday morning.

“Sh10M more for the boys from @UKenyatta, thank you, sir, official Harambee Stars bus in the new year, 50M for the team to qualify for the cup of nations all via William Ruto,” FKF president Nick Mwendwa said in a post.

The team won the Cecafa tournament on Sunday, beating Zanzibar 3-2 on penalties at the Machakos Stadium to claim the precious title.

The team is also set to receive a new bus next year, as the government tries to improve the lives of the players and the team in general.

Harambee is in a tricky group featuring Ghana and Ethiopia in matches that will end next year September.

The Stars are set to host Ghana next March in the first round, before traveling to Ethiopia.

The team currently lies third in their group with no point, after they lost their opening match away to Sierra Leon in June last year.

The Black Stars of Ghana are top of the group with three points, after they won their opening match against Ethiopia.

Ethiopia lies last in the group.
