A number of church leaders want to be included in the dialogue committee by President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Evangelical Association of Kenya (EAK) bishops speaking on Monday said a majority of Kenyans have trust in the church and hence should be part of the dialogue team.
EAK chairman Bishop Mark Kariuki stated that the truce between Uhuru and Raila was a sign of statesmanship.
"We want the church to be included. We have congregations at the grassroots," Kariuki said.
The clergyman further called for the inclusion of the civil society.
"We are cognisant of the fact that religious groups are not only the conscience of society but are one of the most trusted by Kenyans," Peter Njao, EAK Nairobi county chairman, said.
After the March 9 handshake, the two leaders stated that they will embark on implementing joint projects.
