Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno has joined Deputy President William Ruto and other Jubilee allied leaders in opposing calls by the opposition to amend the constitution.
Speaking in Eldoret on Thursday, Chemno said no money should be wasted to conduct a referendum for the constitutional changes to take place.
“The country should not use billions to conduct a referendum just because a few individuals want to be absorbed in the government. I stand with DP Ruto opposing NASA leader’s calls to amend the constitution because Kenyans passed a constitution in 2010 which must be respected by everyone,” he said.
The Jubilee deputy county boss further hit out at a section of Jubilee leaders who have supported the opposition's push for the constitutional changes.
“Some Jubilee leaders who have supported Raila in his bid to push for the changes to be made in the constitution are selfish and are only interested to fill their stomachs. We all know what Raila wants to become because he has failed to clinch the presidency. Let us unite and send Raila on a permanent retirement to take care of his grandchildren at home,” he noted.
Chemno also asked DP Ruto not to succumb to 'small frustrations' coming on his way which may affect his ambition to become the next president in 2022.
