Days after openly distancing himself from proposed changes, President Uhuru Kenyatta will now have to deal with rebellion from a section of Jubilee leaders.
For weeks now, ODM leader Raila Odinga has been pushing for constitutional changes, a move that has irked a section of Jubilee leaders who demanded that Uhuru makes his stand clear.
And in Gusii, a section of MPs have differed with Uhuru insisting the the country is ripe for constitutional changes.
"If we are serious about doing away with stiff electoral contests, then this is the time we changed the constitution. We cannot run away from it," said Nyamira Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi.
On his part, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose said: "This is the time we drop unnecessary party politics and embrace each other. If parliamentary system will save us, then let's go for it."
Moiben MP Silas Tiren and his Uasin Gishu counterpart Margaret Kamar have openly called for a referendum.
Deputy President William Ruto has often accused the ODM wing of championing for constitutional changes to short change his 2022 bid.
