A section of the residents seemed to agree with her while others were completely opposed to the issue.

Speaking to SDE magazine, some residents argued that polygamy will tame their wive's ego who seemed to have developed arrogance due to little or no competition.

Such men said are ready to marry more wives because through that infidelity rates will actually go down.

"I am more than ready to marry four wives and will not use viagra because I have the stamina. I support our woman rep on this. She has a point. It's high time we embraced this because it's the only way we can curb infidelity in our homes. If she continues supporting us this way, we will vote for her again," said Josphat Mbugua, a carpenter.

However, not all residents agreed with the idea of polygamy.

People like Samuel Mwangi criticised the idea terming it a misplaced priority by some leaders.

Others like Wanjiru Kago did not buy the idea as she claimed many men had already abandoned their children in the streets.

"Don't be cheated that men don't know about their children born out of wedlock. They pretend because they don't want to take responsibility," argued Wanjiru Kago.

"How do you encourage us to marry many women when we don't even have jobs? Let's focus on things that will generate wealth for us, not polygamy." wondered Mr. Mwangi.

The Kiambu woman rep. had asked men to embrace polygamy as one way of reducing infidelity and number of children born out of wedlock.
