Parents in Kisauni have been assured of equity in the distribution of bursary fund to all needy students in the constituency.

The area Member of Parliament Ali Mbogo said that needy students should not miss higher education because they lack school fees.

He said that education matters were a priority and bursary distribution should be done in a transparent manner so that students from disadvantaged families can enroll in higher learning institutions.

He said that in the past years, students from poor families were left out of the bursary programs.

He noted that though there was enough money from the CDF fund, it was distributed to already able families instead of clear vetting and getting the exact figures of students from poor families.

“I promised you that I will change Kisauni and here we are, we need to take a step forward in matters of education,” he told Mwakirunge Ward residents during the weekend.

“We spent over 15 million shillings in covering more than 3,000 students during our political campaigns, we need to surpass that figure as we engage in development issues within our constituency” he added.

He said that already an exercise of gathering data of all secondary, technical and university students from Kisauni was underway.

“We are now collecting the names of all the needy students in Kisauni constituency so that no one misses this noble program of bursary distribution.

He called on parents and teachers to assist in identifying all needy students so that they benefit from the program.

Mbogo said that it is through education that most youth will venture into self-employment as well as deter from crime and drug abuse menace.

The legislature noted the Kisauni was among areas where most youths were doing drugs and recruited in juvenile criminal gangs and revealed that education was the basic solution of all the vices.
