More leaders from Nyamira and Kisii counties have continued to give thanks to President Uhuru Kenyatta for retaining Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i in his administration.
Uhuru confirmed Matiang'i as the CS for Interior Ministry last week when he named the first batch of his new Cabinet.
He retained only six ministers who served in his first term, 'dropping' 13 Cabinet Secretaries.
Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Sam Nyamweya thanked the President for retaining their 'son' Matiang'i and asked him to consider another CS from the region.
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, Nyamweya said by retaining the acting Education CS, the President has demonstrated the confidence he has in his hardworking minister.
"We the Kisii people are very proud of Matiang'i's outstanding dedication to duty and unwavering commitment to serve the nation," he said.
Other leaders from the Gusiiland who have thanked Uhuru include MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango), former Kisii Senator Chris Obure, ex-South Mugirango legislator James Magara, Borabu MCA Andrew Kimonge among others.
"I appreciate the gesture by the President to have our brother Matiang'i who has performed well in the Education Ministry retained and moved to the Interior Ministry where he is also going to perform well," Onyonka said, as quoted by Sunday Standard.
