A day after a section of religious leaders from Gusii backed Chief Justice David Maraga to make a ‘credible and focused’ ruling; more leaders have joined the bandwagon.
On Monday, Supreme Court shall make a final determination that would decide President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fate over his reelection.
Referring to alleged intimidation to the court by Uhuru, a section of NASA leaders now wants the judges to remain ‘firm’ and deliver a credible ruling.
“We are aware that the state wants to cling to power and they could be intimidating the judiciary. Maraga should be guided by the law,” said Ben Momanyi, a Wiper MP for Borabu.
His South Mugirango counterpart Sylvanus Osoro said: “The Supreme Court should always show the way. They should not succumb to pressures from politicians.”
At a rally in Burma market after the nullification of his victory, Uhuru threatened to ‘fix’ the Supreme Court should he win repeat polls.
And the unfolding circumstances led to escalation of protests in Maraga’s Nyamira backyard in which the president’s effigy was burnt and buried.
