Days after backing a rival Ford Kenya candidate for Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat, a section of NASA leaders have defended Raila Odinga’s decision.
Although Odinga overlooked ODM candidate Samuel Omwando in the race, his bet, Richard Onyonka however, carried the day.
But following mass defections by a section of Omwando backers, a section of leaders have slammed the move adding that NASA made a right decision.
“We were on the receiving end from Jubilee and some decisions are worth. We fully support Odinga’s decision,” said Kisii Women Representative Janet Ong’era.
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro added: “It was a war and NASA had to sail through. We should instead laud Odinga for wisdom.”
Conspicuously, Kisii Governor James Ongwae has kept off the standoff with commentators saying that he is ‘close’ to both Onyonka and Omwando.
During the poll, Onyonka garnered 10,122 votes while Jubilee candidate Antony Kibagendi finished second with 5,074. Omwando emerged third with close to 4,800 votes.
