Leaders from across the political spectrum have joined the people of Migori following the death of Senator Ben Okello, who died on Monday night at MP Shah hospital.
Earlier, Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino described Okello as a 'gentleman' adding that the death was a blow to the nation.
And in the neighbouring Nyamira, leaders have described Okello as an 'astute' journalist who defended the truth while working for Ramogi FM.
"It is a sad morning for the country after losing such an impeccable journalist and legislator. He was always vocal and his death is a big blow to us," wrote Senator Okong'o Mogeni.
Former area Women Rep Alice Chae described Okello as an 'easy going' colleague, tracing their relationship back in Royal Media.
"It is tragic to lose such a colleague. He was an easy going person since our time at the Royal Media. I condole with his family at this trying moment."
Reports indicate that Okello has been ailing from throat cancer and that he had spent most of his time in hospital this year.
He becomes the third legislator to succumb to cancer after Grace Kichoim of Baringo South and Francis Nyenze of Mwingi South.
