Insiders say that President Uhuru Kenyatta has since summoned Matiang'i and asked him to take responsibility over Sh3.2 billion Ruaraka land saga or face sack.

At Omogonchoro on Friday, the leaders backed Matiang'i insisting that he is being dragged due to his 'good' performance.

"We are aware of scheme by some people to taint our minister Matiang'i. He has not wronged anyone other than working. Let the real thieves of Ruaraka land be arrested," said Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose.

Area Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi added: "The minister is doing good job including taking gamblers head on and sugar barons. The president needs him in government."

Similar sentiments were echoed by West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi who also lauded Matiang'i's effort to tame sugar barons.

The backing came few hours after KEBS Managing Director Charles Ongwae was arrested for allegedly lying to the public over mercury sugar.

On Thursday, Jubilee youth leaders led by Brian Mamboleo had warned the president against planned disciplinary measures on Matiang'i over the controversial land.
