Leaders from Gusii region have joined a section of NASA leaders on condemnation of lawyer Harun Ndubi's arrest.
The renowned Human Rights lawyer was arrested on Sunday evening for allegedly driving while drunk along Jakaya Kikwete road.
"He parked his vehicle on the meddle of the road and slept while very drunk. He will be charged for drunk driving," said Nairobi Police Commandant Japheth Koome.
And back at his Nyamira home, leaders termed the arrest 'witch-hunt' warning that the country was going direction.
Ex-Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said: "There is an ongoing plot to intimidate Kenyans who are going about their job. This is setting a bad precedence."
Similar sentiments were shared by Borabu MP who warned the state against subjecting Kenyans to 'unnecessary' harassment.
"Ndubi is doing his job and has no political affiliations, The state should respect rights of people all the time." he said.
Despite working for civil society, Ndubi has often appeared in court for high profile NASA politicians among them Raila Odinga.
