The self proclaimed NRM General was kicked out of the country on Wednesday even as the state maintained that he is not a Kenyan citizen.

And the decision to convict Matiang'i over non compliance to court orders has been lauded by leaders across Gusii region, where the minister hails from.

"The rule of law must be respected all the time. No matter who you are, court orders must be respected. His conviction is welcome," said Borabu MP Ben Momanyi.

Ex-Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire said: "The courts are only standing independent institutions. They must fight for our rights. This was a good move."

Justice George Odunga was set to sentence Matiang'i along with IG Joseph Boinet over contempt of court on Thursday.

Currently, Miguna is being treated at a Dubai hospital and has reportedly refused to board a London bound flight.
