On Sunday evening, news emerged that NASA strategist David Ndii had been arrested in Kwale.
The news led to outrage across social media platforms with Kenyans calling for his release immediately.
On Monday morning, it later emerged that Ndii was being questioned over incitement.
Here is what leaders had to say about the incident
@bonifacemwangi David Ndii is a patriot. A patriot is a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.
@johngithongo An outage and really dumb thinking that arresting @DavidNdii at the Coast will stop ideas whose time may have come!!
@DonaldBKipkorir For many years, Prof. Wangari Maathai kept being harassed; the World celebrated & gave her Nobel Prize; the highest global award ... Kenya celebrated her only after she died ... Now we are arresting Prof. David Ndii, a highly respected global Economist .. Kenya harasses its BEST!
@Disembe Insulting to say they searched the room and found “nothing”. They should have said they found David Ndii’s brain intact...
@makaumutua The Jubilee regime is a clear and present danger to the republic. Only criminal states disappear citizens. Release Dr David Ndii forthwith. The voice of the people can’t be stilled.– at Garden Of Eden
@NelsonHavi We hope you have a bona fide sustainable charge against David Ndii. We will not plead, but shall demand his release and take remedial action.
@adrianblomfield Apparent arrest of David ndii a worrying development. He has an international reputation but not just that - a possible sign of gov't response to people's assembly
@MigunaMiguna To @RailaOdinga, @CoalitionNASAKe & my fellow #NRM leadership: The abduction and illegal detention of @DavidNdii vindicates me. We have no business discussing fake dialogue with hypocritical religious leaders and Western diplomats. No concessions. No surrender!#ReleaseDavidNdii
