A section of Jubilee leaders has told off those agitating for the review of the Constitution.

Speaking during the burial of Elizabeth Gathoni Koinange, the fifth wife of former colonial chief Mbiyu Wa Koinange, the leaders led by Governor Ferdinand Waititu said the timing was wrong to change the Supreme law.

"We can't keep on changing the Constitution after every election to accommodate poll losers," Waititu said speaking in Kiambaa, Kiambu County.

NASA leadership is proposing the formation of people's assembly in the push to amend the Constitution to force the creation of an inclusive government.

But President Uhuru Kenyatta has opposed the move saying it was too early to start amending the 2010 Constitution.

"We cannot be talking about changing the Constitution every day. We just changed it recently. We cannot be politicking every day," Uhuru said on Thursday during a function in Kirinyaga County.

Speaking at the same funeral, Limuru MP Peter Mwathi warned against changing the Constitution to expand the executive, saying it will over-burden the taxpayers.

"The country is still struggling with a bloated wage bill. There is no need to stretch our economy father which has suffered due to prolonged election period," Mwathi said.

Echoing the same sentiments, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi said constitutional amendments were a costly affair.

"To change some of the sections we need a referendum. The country cannot afford a referendum after having two expensive elections in three months," Wamatangi warned.
