Pickpockets who have been preying on Thika residents and commuters at various matatu terminus have been put on strict notice.
Thika West sub-county DCC Tom Anjere, speaking in his office on Tuesday, said that the pickpockets' days had come to an abrupt end as he had ordered that police officers to be patrolling all matatu terminus on regular basis.
"We cannot sit down and keep on telling the public that something is being done. We have started to walk the talk and I can assure you that those pickpockets' days are now over," said Anjere.
He noted that the pickpockets position themselves at matatu terminus especially during evening rush-hours where they guise as travelers.
"We do not want idlers at matatu stages. If you are not a traveler or part of the matatu crew, you have no business being there. We will arrest these idlers who also happen to be part of these thugs," added Anjere.
The sub-county boss added that the measures were being put to also shield students who are about to break for mid-term vacations from conmen who sometimes trick and con them their school fees and pocket money.
