Elders from Garissa County have piled more pressure on President Uhuru Kenyatta and National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Amolo Odinga to hold talks for the sake of this nation.

According to the elders, the stalemate between the leaders of the top seat is likely to plunge the nation into chaos.

Speaking in Garissa town, the elders said that the Presidential rerun was conducted along tribal lines, which is not good for the development of this country.

Led by Kenya Livestock Marketing Council chairman Dubat Amey, the elders said that the talks between Uhuru and Raila will solve the political uncertainty that hit this nation after the Supreme Court nullified the August outcome and Former Prime Minister’s withdrawal from the fresh election.

The council, which operates in 13 arid and semi-arid areas, said that it is unfortunate to see leaders pushing for agenda that is likely to destroy what we have built for more than fifty years in less than a week.

“Building this country took a lot of time but destroying it will not take more than three days," he said, as quoted by the local daily.

“You have the wisdom and energy to do that because you are a humble man and we have trust in you,” he added.
