A section of Jubilee Party legislators has increased pressure on Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch Cord and join the ruling coalition.
Kieni lawmaker Kanini Kega has urged Kalonzo to follow other Ukambani leaders and join Jubilee because there was enough room for him.
“I would like to ask the Kamba community to support Jubilee in its efforts to win the 2017 General Election. We already have the likes of Munyaka and Ndambuki and we are raring to go. My plea to Kalonzo Musyoka is that he should move to Jubilee because we have space to accommodate him,” said Kega.
On his part, Gatundu South legislator Moses Kuria called on the former Vice President to ditch the coalition because he will not be the flag bearer.
“I would like to tell Kalonzo not to accept anything short of CORD’s presidential ticket, just the same way he insisted on being Jubilee Coalition’s flag bearer in the run up to the 2013 elections,” said Kuria.
On his part, Nairobi Senator has called on Kalonzo to join Jubilee ahead of the next general election because the move will be beneficial to Ukambani people.
“As a government, we are ready to talk to Kalonzo and iron out any differences we’ve had in the past and ensure we unite the region ahead of the next elections,” said Sonko.
The leaders were speaking after a Church Service in Machakos.
There has been a rift among Cord principals over who will be the next flag bearer with every leader stating that they were capable.
