This comes after on Wednesday night raided a home of one of the residents and made away with property valued at Sh50,000.

According Sabina Nyasuguta, thugs who pretended to be police officers raided her home on Wednesday and asked her to surrender all her money.

"I returned home from Daraja Mbili market where I hawk fruits and prepared supper before we retired to bed with my 2 daughters at 10 pm. At 12 am, unknown people forced themselves into the compound and entered in my house where they asked me to surrender the money I sold for the day but luckily I didn't have any money. They stole my television, radio cassette, two cooking gases before they entered a neighbors house where they robbed him Sh20,000 among other valuables," said Nyasuguta.

The woman's husband Bernard Mogaka who was not at home during the incident condemned the incident and accused police officers for failing to beef up security in the area.

"Since Matiang'i become the Interior Cs crime has been on the rise in the Gusii region. Let him resign because he has failed to beef up security at his home. He is unfit to hold the big office while innocent residents are being terrorized by thugs who should be arrested and be prosecuted," said Mogaka.

Kisii County Police commander Hassan Abdi said police officers have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspects who terrorized the locals.

Abdi said police patrols have been improved to ensure no criminal activities are ongoing in the region at night.
