More leaders allied to the ruling Jubilee Party have urged the opposition coalition, National Super Alliance (NASA) to drop the planned swearing in of its leader Raila Odinga.
Addressing the press after a church service at the Redeemed Gospel Church in Buruburu Nairobi Sunday, Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa faulted the move urging the alliance to drop it.
The lawmaker condemned the controversial event slated for Tuesday January 30 terming it as a scheme to destabilize the nation.
‘’It is clear that what the opposition wants is to bring anarchy into this nation and we want to condemn any attempts by the alliance to breach the peace currently being enjoyed in the country,’’ said Ichung’wa.
The service which was also attended by Deputy President William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and other leaders, also saw the Former Premier Raila Odinga-led block land on the receiving side over the event set to be held at Uhuru Park in the capital.
Ruto further rubbished any possibilities of dialogue with the opposition with Sonko laughing off NASA’s threats terming them as sideshows.
‘’What the nation needs now is peace, we are not interested in the sideshows being peddled by NASA,’’ said the county boss.
Odinga is set to take the oath of office alongside his deputy Kalonzo Musyoka.
