Kenya's political arch-rivals President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have been urged to engage in dialogue.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) told the duo to talk so the country can move forward as one united nation.

"The Union is calling for dialogue between the two leaders to save this country. We want to move forward and that can only happen through proper dialogue," said Secretary General Wilson Sossion, as quoted by The Standard.

The Union boss also supported calls by the Opposition for constitutional changes, saying they would solve the current political stalemate.

"There is something wrong with our politics that must be fixed through dialogue because our Constitution does not address this problem properly," he said.

Sossion, who is also an ODM nominated MP, said all regions must be included in the government for peace to prevail in the country.

"There is also a need for fair and equitable distribution of resources," the legislator added.

Sossion was speaking after a KNUT Western Kenya officials meeting in Kakamega, Sunday.
