President Uhuru Kenyatta is facing uncertainty from his traditional Central Kenya strongholds over cabinet appointments due to rivalry between two factions.

While Kikuyu Council of Elders is pushing for more appointments to cabinet, a cultural group known as Kiama Kia Ma wants the president to fact all Kenyan communities in his cabinet.

"We expect cabinet appointments to reflect face and competence of Kenyans," said Patrick Muiru, Secretary General of the cultural faction.

He added: "Like all other Kenyans, as Kikuyu community, we only expect delivery of services and not favours from the president."

Through Rev. Peter Munga, the Council of Elders are pushing for more appointments to the community on grounds that they are being marginalized despite being the majority.

The elders want Jeremiah Kioni (Ndaragwa) and Amos Kimunya (Kipipiri) appointment to cabinet, a move that the cultural group is opposing saying the president should be given time to bring on board all communities.
