Protesters thronged in streets on London, calling for Kenya’s government to respect human rights by stopping extrajudicial killings by the police on Monday.
Incidentally, the anti – Uhuru Kenyatta protests coincided with those of Raila Odinga as Kenyans in diaspora openly showed how the country is divided.
Right outside Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, and demonstrators carried placards condemning police killings in the country.
A report compiled by Kenya National Human Rights Commission indicates that 26 people died at the eve of August 8th elections when Odinga’s supporters protested Uhuru’s victory, which was later nullified.
Coincidentally, the protests came even as police reportedly opened fire and killed three peaceful demonstrators in Bondo, a few yards from Odinga’s rural home.
The government, through acting interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, has banned protests within city centers of Nairobi, Kisumu and Mombasa, a move that has since been defied by the opposition.
At London, the protestors challenged Uhuru to restrain officers from using live bullets in their three – hour peaceful demonstrations in UK.
Odinga is at the United Kingdom and is expected to fly back later on Saturday evening ahead of Mombasa rally on Sunday.
