This is after a court ruled that he had been validly elected and that there was no compelling evidence to show that the parliamentary contest was marred by irregularities.

Kenyans have reacted with mixed feelings to the development.

Here is a sample of what the residents of Garissa had to say about the ruling:

''It was a good thing that the judge did. The people of Embakasi East were not ready for political campaigns and elections,'' Kuno Mohamed said.

''I looked at the evidence that was tabled in court and it was compelling. I am not sure why the court failed to nullify Owino's election,'' Sabar Mani said.

''This is the time for the MP to work. Let him work,'' Jasmine Mohamed said.

''I am happy for him and the people of Embakasi,'' Said Omar said.

''The long wait has finally come to an end. Let him now work for the people,'' Medina Humano said.
