The National Youth Service (NYS) is yet to again on the spot three years after the Ruaraka-based institution caused a public outcry over the theft of over Sh791 million leading to the exit of the then devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
A fresh probe has revealed that the top officials at the NYS have yet again been involved in a Sh10 billion scandal.
Kenyans took to social media to vent their anger on the newest scam in town.
Youth Fund, National Youth Service and Kazi Kwa Vijana. Anything with youth in it is a scandal . Kazi kwa Vijana pesa kwa wazee— Cyprian, Is Nyakundi (@C_NyaKundiH) May 13, 2018.
As long as economic terrorism cases are settled out of court, looting will go on. Now that Raila is their friend, you are the only voice, you the social media user. I miss the days we were in opposition. Today Raila Odinga would have addressed the media unmasking the 10bn NYS scandal and lambasting the government for its lackluster attitude towards curbing corruption. But the handcheque is overworking.#UhuruAppointees— Capt. It was 5Billion and now its 10Billion after Raila joining them #Uhuruappointees...kula mshibe— Mokaya Jnr (@mokayafin) May 13, 2018.
#UhuruAppointees have chewed Ksh.10B but I'm pretty sure “ile mkono Wa Jubilee ” too was involved in this scam. We must state categorically that NYS has no capacity to handle over Ksh. 40B budget. Anything above Ksh. 5B in that department is a cash cow for UhuRuto chaps. pic.twitter.com/aokFXtbu1u— Kenya (@TEAMNASA_KE) May 13, 2018.
If the #UhuruAppointees were in Korea today all of them would be dead or in prison due to corruption— Ambassador Wachira Dennis (@WachiraDennis1) May 13, 2018.
NYS Director-General who replaced Nelson Githinji, and whose cardinal role was to clean up the service after #NYSscam, tells Daily Nation he DOES NOT KNOW how ifmis works...and wonders how Ksh10 billion ‘siphoned without raising a red flag’. #UhuruAppointees @wanjohigithae pic.twitter.com/Hd7yiJ0OhU— D I K E M B E (@Disembe) May 13, 2018.
