Nakuru County Minister for Education, Culture and Sports Prof Catherine Kitetu has said that more research is needed to uplift education standards in the country.
Speaking at Egerton University on Friday during the 'Young Researchers and Social Empowerment' workshop, Kitetu noted that university scholars ought to play an active role in research that aims at uplifting education standards in the country.
“University training entails carrying out research on a wide range of socio-economic and scientific implications. Universities are basically centres of research and I urge you to help uplift education standards in the country, starting with our own county,’’ said Kitetu.
She pledged assistance from her ministry for young scholars wishing to undertake affirmative action research aimed at improving education standards in the county among other sectors of her ministry.
Kitetu is a former senior lecturer in the faculty of social sciences at the university.
