Ngirita was arrested alongside three of her family members at their home in Naivasha's posh Lakeview estate on Monday.

According to Ngirita's former neighbour, her family was poor, just like the others in the area, before things took a dramatic change.

He revealed that the family was fully dependent on its posho mill business, before the surprising changes started emerging, resulting to an unrealistic elevation from rugs to riches.

"They only depended on their maize milling business and were very poor like most of the other people inhabiting this area," the source who sought anonymity told citizen TV in an exclusive interview on Tuesday.

"However, things started changing recently, when she bought a piece of land worth Sh80 million, followed by a lorry and 2 high-end vehicles, a V8 and another guzzler, at a go," the source further revealed.

According to the source who claimed to have known Ngirita since their childhood days, claiming to have shared a classroom with her years back, the family also owns a number of flats outside Naivasha town.

Ngirita was arraigned in court on Tuesday in the company of other suspects implicated in the scandal and is facing, among others, allegations of fraudulently receiving up to Sh59 million from NYS.
