While Odinga is yet to table the full proposal of the changes he intends to have in the constitution, it is however understood that he is pushing for a parliamentary system of government.

And Moiben MP Silas Tiren on Sunday said that the changes were necessary to pave way for unity in the country.

"If that is what it takes to unite the country then we have no option other than going to the people. We should not duel on the same systems forever," he said.

Uasin Gishu senator Margaret Kamar said: "The people should be allowed to make choice. It is improper for us to say that we can't allow changes."

Other leaders who have backed the impending changes are Senator Gideon Moi, Tiaty MP William Kamket and Emurua Dikir MP Johanna Ng'eno.

Also, former minister Nick Salat has been championing for changes, which Ruto says targets to undermine his efforts to clinch presidency.
