Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has promised to campaign f0r the former Embakasi East Mp Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino after his August win was nullified by the Court.
In a tweet on Friday, Khalwale offered his remorse for the first time legislator Babu Owino and assured him that all will be well.
"Pole kid bro, @Babu_Owino, all will be well. I will vigorously campaign for u in the ensuing-elections," tweeted Khalwale.
In his Friday ruling, Justice Joseph Sergon agreed with claims by the petitioner Francis Mureithi that the August 8 election was marred by widespread errors and malpractices.
Despite the vote recount that saw Owino beat Mureithi, Justice Sergon cited intimidation, violence and proper influence as the reasons to warrant the invalidation of Owino's win.
"The second issue to determine whether or not the first respondent was validly elected and declared as Member of National Assembly for Embakasi East taking into account the irregularities and illegalities and other factors as intimidation, violence and proper influence, I find the election of the first respondent as Member of National Assembly for Embakasi East constituency was not free and fair," reiterated Justice Sergon as quoted by Nairobi News.
Owino joins Nandi Hills' Alfred Keter of, Uganda's Chris Karani, Markawet East's Kangogo Bowen, Gatundu North's Wanjiku Kibe and Lamu West's Stanley Muthama who lost their seats after successful petitions by their opponents.
