Tension is brewing for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga after unprecedented resistance emerged in his Bondo backyard where elders have said they will not support his calls for a six-piece voting style.

The octogenarians from Nyismwa  which is one of the biggest clan in Bondo said they should be given freedom to decide on whom they will vote for and not through coercion.

"We want to demonstrate to ODM party bigwigs that the primaries were shambolic hence we have opted for independent candidates, " said Otoyo Chiambe.

The elders complained of the shambolic ODM primaries and pledge to support Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo for the Siaya gubernatorial seat.

"The best leaders were rigged out during the primaries. We shall vote for them. We will also support Andiwo and Florence Aluodo for woman MP," Chiambe said.

The sentiments by the elders come in days after Raila's campaign team was jeered while campaigning for incumbent Siaya county Governor Cornel Rasanga.

Chiambe said NASA should stop viewing independent candidates as enemies but partners out to offer a positive challenge.
