The revelations have gathered that Lamu and Isiolo counties are existing illegally since they do not meet the threshold as outlined in the County Government Act of 2012.

The Act states that for Isiolo and Lamu to be categorised as counties they should have a minimum of 15 wards, yet they only have 10 wards each.

Experts claim that IEBC must have committed the illegality knowingly when they categorised the two counties but saw it not prudent to explain the illegality.

The illegal creation of the two counties is seen as the latest hurdle facing the IEBC after weeks of immense pressure from the public to have the commission disbanded over procurement malpractice.

IEBC has also been accused of being unable to conduct the 2017 General Election after the public claim to lose confidence in them.
