Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has hit out at Huruma Ward Representative in Uasin Gishu County Peter Chomba whom he accuses of inciting Eldoret hawkers on tribal lines.
He warned that the incitements are uncalled for and my plunge the county into ethnic divisions."I want to tell my friend Chomba to stop inciting hawkers but instead find an amicable solution to the problems facing hawkers through dialogue. What is wrong when hawkers are moved to other markets instead of selling their goods at roadsides? Let us not politicize this issue," said Moses Kuria in Eldoret town, Sunday."In every town, hawkers face similar problems and I urge him not to use this matter for his political gain at the expense of hawkers," he added. The vocal Jubilee MP, however, revealed that he will soon lead a delegation to governor Jackson Mandago's office with the aim of solving the hawker's menace once and for all.“I have talked to governor Mandago and he has accepted to meet us. We want to solve this issue because we are tired of the cat and mouse games which are witnessed daily between the county askari’s and the hawkers,” he said.Hawkers in Eldoret town have been engaging county enforcement officers as they try to evict them from the town's CBD.To be the first to get updates on breaking and trending news in Kenya, send your Whatsapp number to 0740949990.
