Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has once again condemned the Sh9 billion NYS scandal, calling for action to be taken against the 'sacred cows' implicated in the scam.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, the vocal Jubilee legislator wondered why the suspects arraigned in court were charged with amounts ranging from Sh24 million to Sh60 million, as opposed to the Sh9 billion reported in the media.“Am I the only one wondering? Daily Nation told us of Ksh9 Billion loss at NYS. How come the suspects were charged with amounts ranging from Ksh24 Million to Ksh60 Million. Where is the Ksh 9B? We demand the ones who stole the Ksh 9B also be brought to face justice. Unless of course the figure was not Ksh 9 Billion. Bring the Ksh 9B sacred cows from the kraal or confirm it was not Ksh 9 Billion after all,” read the post.Police last week arrested the suspects named in the ongoing National Youth Service (NYS) probe after the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) ordered for their immediate prosecution.Thirteen of the suspects were arrested in Nairobi while four were nabbed in Naivasha. The suspects will remain in police custody until June 5 as they await the court’s verdict on whether they will be released on bail. The State has flagged several multi-million properties for repossession from several NYS scandal suspects should they be convicted of economic crimes.
