Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has spoken out in defense of Chief Justice David Maraga after a petition was filed by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu to remove him from office.

Kuria assured that he along with other legislators would talk to Wambugu to drop the petition.

The Gatundo South MP expressed his understanding of the petition stating that it was understandable following the Supreme Court ruling but believes Wambugu was ‘largely out of order’.

“I think that the person with a primary interest in this matter was President Uhuru Kenyatta since he was the candidate after all. If Uhuru Kenyatta has not found any reason to institute such a petition, then I believe Ngunjiri is largely out of order,” Kura said.

He went on to say that President Uhuru Kenyatta and Chief Justice Maraga are heads of different sections of the government and as such Members of Parliament were not qualified to take on such issues.

The Jubilee Party has also distanced itself from Wambugu’s petition stating that the Nyeri Town MP carried out his right as a private citizen.
