Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria has followed in the footsteps of President Uhuru Kenyatta, issuing an apology to those he may have offended in one way or another.
Kuria noted that the now famous handshake between Uhuru and opposition chief Raila Odinga, which has become one of the prolific trademarks among Kenyan leaders who in the past held some form of political grudge against each other based on their parties affiliations, was now part of Kenya’s national values. The legislator who took to Facebook to convey his message of apology further urged Kenyans to embrace national unity and the art of forgiveness so that they can all move the country forward in all aspects of development."The Head of State has spoken. Political competition is not enmity. Neither is unity the same as unanimity. The handshake is now part of our national values. Let’s move the nation forward and forgive each other," he said. "If I have ever offended anyone I offer my profuse and unreserved apologies," he added. His message came after President Uhuru Kenyatta during his annual State of the Nation Address in Parliament, sought for forgiveness and Kenyans’ support in repairing the country’s broken harmony.“If there was anything I said last year that hurt or wounded you, if I damaged the unity of this country in any way, I ask you to forgive me, and to join me in repairing that harm,” said the Head of State.
