Gatundu South Mp Moses Kuria has fulfilled his cash reward promise to Thika United after they retained their spot in the Kenya Premier League (KPL) for the 2018/2019 season.
In a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, Kuria expressed his delight at the team's victory against Ushuru FC in a tightly contested two-way fixture where Thika United won 2-1 on aggregate.
"Finally we have made it. Thika United has retained its place in Kenya Premier League after surviving a fluent attacking football from Ushuru FC to draw 0-0 at Narok Stadium. Thanks to the 2-1 victory at Thika Stadium earlier this week, the team is now poised for greater things in KPL 2018," posted Kuria. The legislator further reiterated that the team will be renamed to Mt Kenya FC. "The Nick Muyoti boys were delighted as I kept my promise to reward them with Ksh 300,000 if they survive in the league. Now plans to rename the club as Mt Kenya United will go ahead with utmost urgency," further posted Kuria.
Thika United won 2-1 in the first leg and drew 0-0 in the second leg held on Sunday at the Narok stadium.
