Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has hit out at Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu, accusing him of focusing too much on the fight against illicit brews and ignoring other crucial sectors.
Kuria says that Waititu has to balance and ensure that he delivers services to Kiambu people as per the constitution.
Speaking to journalists in Gatundu Town on Thursday, Kuria said that while the fight against illicit brews is welcomed, ignoring other crucial sectors will cripple the county's economy.
“Governor Waititu should give equal attention to matters affecting Kiambu people and stop spending too much time fighting illicit brews,” he said.
Kuria added that the fight against illicit brews is a function largely performed by the national government through delegated agencies.
He said that there are many issues that the Kiambu governor needs to address and guarantee locals service delivery.
Kuria also faulted Waititu’s alleged decision to give Sh400 to recovering drug addicts.
He said that giving money to addicts struggling to recover will make them relapse.
The vocal MP asked the Jubilee governor to come up with other ways of empowering alcoholic addicts.
Governor Waititu has been spearheading the war against illicit brews and second generation alcoholic drinks in Kiambu.
The governor has often come under criticism in his war against the illicit brews with a section of bar operators accusing him of ‘killing their’ businesses.
