The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and his Nakuru Town counterpart Kimani Ngunjiri over alleged inciting remarks the two are said to have made recently.

On Monday, NCIC chairman Francis Ole Kaparo confirmed that they had summoned the two lawmakers for questioning over their remarks.

Kuria will appear before NCIC on Thursday while Ngunjiri will be questioned on Friday this week.

“It is true that we have summoned the two leaders over their recent remarks and we will make a decision thereafter,” said Kaparo on Monday.

Kuria is allegedly said to have called Cord leader Raila Odinga an assassin through his facebook comments.

Ngunjiri on the other hand is accused of allegedly ordering that members of the ‘Luo’ community should leave Nakuru after Raila Odinga’s meeting in the county on Saturday.

The NCIC chairman warned politicians using social media to propagate hate speech of dire consequences.

“We are going to act tough on politicians and other social media users who misuse social sites for their selfish gains,” he said.

Kaparo added that they are working with the Ministry of Information and Communication to come up with laws to monitor social media usage.

While reacting to the summons by NCIC on Monday, Kuria said that e has not received any communication from the commission.

“I have not received anything inform of summons from NCIC and when I do I will tell you,” said Kuria on phone.

Moses Kuria has been on the spot in the past for his ethnic statements.

The Gatundu lawmaker has incitement cases going on in court.
