Kuria said that those who circulated the video are part of a criminal network that extorts money from innocent Kenyans.

Through a statement on his Facebook page, Kuria advised the deputy governor to report the matter to the police.

“I always say it is nonsensical to pay anyone so as not to give a story to the media. That breeds extortion and encourages criminal networks to thrive. It is a pity that the Kirinyaga DG did not immediately report to the police.

"If it were me I would simply have paid them off not with money. These cartels are rampant especially in Kiambu County. I still urge him to report to the police. It is the right thing to do,” Kuria wrote.

Kuria seems to link this cartel to Kiambu gangs after a Kiambu MCA was allegedly lured into a house by a similar gang. The lady who lured the MCA extorted Sh53,000 from him.
