[Photo|Courtesy]Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria and the newly elected Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, have sidelined themselves from pay hike calls by a section of MPs.Kuria asked the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) chairperson Sarah Serem to effect the new salary structure for him, adding that he would even suggest that his salary be cut by a further 15 per cent.He asked her to help in ensuring the public wage bill is controlled, besides doing away with some political offices, so as to uplift the poor mwananchi from the heavy taxes. On his part, Mohamed Ali indicated he had fought for equality and fairness all through his career and that his first move as a Parliamentarian will not be to enrich himself. The former journalist indicated MPs should first create a legal framework for Kenyans to generate wealth first, before enriching themselves.
