Gatundu South MP independent aspirant Joyce Ngugi has been forced to pull out of the race so as to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta.
She announced the move on Saturday when she was received at the Kiambu Jubilee offices.
Ngugi however denied claims that she had been coerced or bought to drop her bid in favour of incumbent Moses Kuria who was nominated too fly the Jubilee Party flag.
"It was my choice to drop my bid as an independent candidate and join the Uhuru's campaign team," Ngugi said.
"Being the president's home, I saw it wise to set aside my ambitions and mobilise people to vote on August8," she added.
Ngugi however remain adamant in not supporting Kuria at the local level, insisting that her move was in the interest of the president and not anyone else.
Her decision was lauded by Kiambu governor aspirant Ferdinand Waititu who said the move will bolster Uhuru's re-election campaign in the county.
"It is great that those who had gone to independent are returning back home. This is the way to go."
"Let them come back to Jubilee so that we work together for wananchi," he said.
