[Photo|Moses Kuria]Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has responded after High Court judge Joseph Sergon him to pay former Justice Minister Martha Karua, Sh6.5 million for defamation.Karua sued the Jubilee lawmaker for damaging her reputation by claiming that she procured witnesses in the ICC crime against humanity case against Deputy President William Ruto at The Hague following the 2007-08 post-election violence. The former Gichugu MP who had asked for Sh20 million as damages, argued that Kuria's statement was malicious, unwarranted and defamatory in nature. She said the words injured her character, personal credit and reputation as well as her standing as a politician, businesswoman, family woman and as a lawyer.Karua had written to Kuria in 2016 demanding for an apology within seven days or be sued for defamation, only for him to repeat the same remarks at the precincts of Parliament the following day. After the Wednesday ruling, Kuria took to his Facebook post and said: "Today I was instructed by the court to pay child support amounting to Ksh 6.5 Million. I will be holding a series of Harambees accross the country so that you, my supporters can help me. The first Harambee will be held at Kerugoya stadium in the next few weeks. The date will be announced here soon."
