Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has said he will support the nomination of Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son, Kennedy, to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Kuria assured Musyoka he will vote for him when his name is presented before the National Assembly.

The Jubilee MP noted there was not enough reason to bar the former vice president’s son from the post.

“I express my support for Kennedy Musyoka. When his name comes up in the National Assembly, I will vote for and support his candidature. I have listened to voices that are opposed to his candidature and I am not convinced,” Kuria said, Saturday.

“As a matter of fact, I am convinced that so many Kenyans are denied opportunities because they are not from well-known families and I say this is very wrong. But it is equally wrong to deny a Kenyan an opportunity, simply because they are from a known family,” he added.

Speaking during a press conference, Kuria criticised those opposed to Kennedy’s candidature for being selfish.

“Everyone needs to be judged on their own merit,” he said.

“We have not taken a corporate decision. I would want to believe those members who are opposed to Kennedy’s nomination did it on their own personal stand,” he noted.

On his party, Kennedy who had accompanied the Gatundu South lawmaker said he had the capability of representing the country.

“For me, all I would ask in this process is fairness. I believe I am qualified; I just want an opportunity to serve my country,” said Kennedy.

Majority leader in the National Assembly, Aden Duale has been against Kalonzo’s son being appointed at the EALA citing nepotism.
