Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has promised to bail out one of the 'musicians' behind the controversial Ikamba song who was on Monday arraigned in court and charged with three counts of ethnic contempt.
Kuria, speaking on Kameme FM, Tuesday morning, said that he has instructed his lawyer to start the bail out process to have John Gichiri Njau who is currently held at industrial area police station after he was unable to raise a cash bail of Sh700,000 released.
"Njau will not sleep in the cell tonight. My lawyer is already working on the bail out. I also want to say it here that Njau is not among the two artists behind that song. He is just an extra who is filmed picking a mango from a wheelbarrow," said Kuria.
Kuria added that the two artists behind the song, Isaiah and Waharaka, are in hiding but he is going to apply for an anticipatory bail to shield them from arrest.
"Just like (Jimmy) Wanjigi, (James) Orengo and others ran to court for anticipatory bails to shield themselves from arrest after commiting treason, I will do the same for the two 'innocent' artists," he added.
The Kikuyu song was released last week in reaction to the disputed ban of charcoal trade in Kitui by Governor Charity Ngilu.
It has lyrics asking what the Kamba community will eat when the mango season is over, suggesting that they will feed on dogs and wild birds.
