Controversial Gatundu South MP-elect Moses Kuria has commended the salary pay cut on Members of Parliament by the Salaries and Renumeration Commission(SRC).

Kuria has gone further to request the commission to slash his salary by a further 15 per cent.

On his official Facebook page on Thursday, Kuria asked SRC chairperson Sarah Serem team to revoke his allowances.

"I commend you for revoking all my sitting allowances, otherwise, I would have been tempted to also claim squatting or sleeping allowances," said Kuria.

Kuria said the pay cut is a good move since it will ensure the money is prioritised for other meaningful projects.

"I trust that with my reduced salary and no sitting allowances, we can now work towards subsidising fees in boarding schools," he said.

The sentiments by Kuria come in after Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga, protested that the pay cut will reduce the honarable members into beggars.

SRC proposed a new pay structure before the August 8 general election that slashed MPs' salaries from Sh710,000 to Sh621, 250 per month.
