Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP), Moses Kuria, has struck a deal with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC).
The deal is meant to settle hate speech cases facing Kuria.
According to state prosecution, a letter had been written to NCIC over the possibility of settling the case out of court.
The commission is yet to respond.
Kuria's lawyer, therefore, asked the court for more time to pursue the settlement over a 2015 hate speech case.
The matter was to be heard on February 14 and 15 and the prosecution team was already prepared to begin hearing.
Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot adjourned to allow Kuria negotiate the settlement with NCIC.
The lawmaker is accused of inciting youth in Nyeri to attack and “slash” politicians opposed to National Youth Service (NYS) projects in the county.
