Controversial Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has invited opposition leader Raila Odinga for a roundtable meeting early 2018.
Kuria who spoke in Nyahururu on Sunday said the meeting will solely be used to discuss how to unite Kenyans and devise ways of developing Kenya as a whole.
He said politics will not be entertained during the convention.
“This story of talking about exams is what we want to talk about because these are the real issues. Let him (Raila) talk about that, water, roads and other projects,” Kuria said.
“And tell him Moses Kuria has given Education CS Fred Matiang’i permission to open the exam servers so that he can see if the results are okay. But the other story (August 8 election results) now that he is no longer interested we are happy. It tells Baba Merry Christmas, happy New Year and when January 3 comes let him come and see me, we talk how we can take Kenya forward.”
Raila contested the August general elections results which President Uhuru Kenyatta won.
He petitioned the results at the Supreme and the court nullified Uhuru’s re-election. He, however, did not take part in the repeat election on October 26.
His attempts to convene a dialogue with Jubilee leaders over electoral reforms have been unfruitful.
Raila also recently criticized the high rate at which Form Four candidates were failing exams.
“I encourage those who have not been lucky never to lose confidence in what they are capable of achieving,” he said Wednesday.
“I am, however, deeply concerned at the high number of students that are failing to make the transition to university. The overall number of candidates with minimum university entry qualification, Grade C+ and above stands at only 11.38. Close to 90 percent of the KCSE candidates have failed.”
He said the trend a worrying.
“Our country needs skilled manpower to achieve its ambitious growth goals. Making the transition from high school to university is a significant, though not the only step, towards the realization of those national goals,” the former premier said.
