Speaking on Monday near the site, a group of young people mostly Bodaboda operators said the deteriorating security in the area has instilled fear to many of them to an extent of closing their businesses earlier than usual.

“We are operating under immense fear. These suspected criminals have targeted our members and they have already robbed and injured quite a number of us. I am a victim of these rampant insecurity,” said Joshua Bonyi, a Bodaboda operator in the area.

He said they have been compelled to go home by six evening to avoid falling a pray to the suspected criminals. They are now blaming the Provincial Administration for failing to take action.

“I am afraid that we will be getting huge loses since we end our businesses quite early. The community policing enforcers have gone silent despite our constant cries,” said Bonyi.

Bonyi urged the government to intervene and restore security in the area by apprehending perpetrators most of whom the Bodaboda operators claims to be well known.

“They are young men who can engage in some constructive activities rather than robbing and injuring innocent people like us. We hope the government will take an action against them,” added Bonyi.

However, the area Community Policing Chairman Fred Mogaka denied the claims that his office was sleeping on the job and urged residents to carry out their businesses as usual since everything was under control.
