A research conducted by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) has revealed the most corrupt counties in Kenya.

According to the EACC report, 81% of the respondents complained of different types of corruption that are witnessed in their counties.

The most corrupt counties were found to be Garissa, Kisii, Nyamira, Narok, Marsabit, Murang’a, Bomet, Nairobi, Kiambu and Homa Bay respectively. Also, Nandi, Kericho and Machakos public officers were found to be the least corrupt.

Murang’a County was reported to be leading in bribes. It is said the county officials have a habit of asking for bribes from the public. The following counties asking for a bribe were Embu, Bomet, Kisii and Wajir respectively.

Negative ethnicity reports were reported to be rampant in Elgeiyo Marakwet since non Keiyos and non Marakwets are marginalised especially when it comes to bursaries. It was also found that the Marakwets are favoured more than any other people since the governor and senator are from Marakwet community.

West Pokot county officials were also not left out as it was said they only fight for their own selfish gains. They also misuse county funds by buying their own plots.

Turkana County reported to have been affected by nepotism more than any other county.
